My name is Coach Acree and I am starting my 21sth year of teaching and my fourth year at Winters High School. I'll be teaching sophomore English (regular and advanced), as well as regular junior English. I'm also the head girls basketball coach and head boys and girls cross country coach, as well at the Girls Athletic Coordinator. I'm SO excited about this year at Winters in academics and athletics!

I've coached and taught at Springlake-Earth High School (Texas), Muleshoe High School (Texas), Comstock High School (Texas), Wheeler County High School (Georgia), Sevier County High School (Tennessee), and Butler High School (Georgia).

I am originally from Midland, Texas, where I graduated from Midland High School (Go Bulldogs!). I served in the United States Army from 1984 to 1993, where I was a Russian and Spanish interpreter. After the military, I returned to college and graduated from Augusta State University (Georgia) with a BA in English.

I love watching sports, reading, and cooking! I make awesome salsa and am known for my Monday muffins!

I had a GREAT summer!  Besides teaching summer school and attending workshops on improving reading and writing skills, I watched the Lady Blizzards participate in a very competitive summer basketball league that included teams from Wall, Christoval, Ballinger, Irion County and Eldorado. They also competed and won the 1st Annual Back to School Tournament at Robert Lee. I also found time to visit my sister who lives on the Gulf coast near Galveston and rode in a 4th of July Golf Cart Parade.

Two summers ago, I attended the ABYDOS Writing Workshop in San Antonio and now have become a published author. Here's a link to an article I wrote that was picked up by the website The Good Men Project:

I am constantly working on a novel. My current novel is entitled "Feather" about a 12-year old assassin. I've even gone so far as to commission someone to make the cover for my novel. It's also pictured on this page.

I'm also proud to say that last school year I was awarded the VFW District 8 (which includes Abilene, Brownwood, Sweetwater, Rowena, and Winters) Teacher of the Year award thanks to a sterling nomination made by my fellow English teacher Deb Pritchard.

I currently have no kids or pets, but I am the proud owner of a 2013 Camaro that I've named Black Mamba. (pictured)
